Welcome to ESMG Quadrivium online, the website for student music in Eindhoven!

The "Eindhovens Studenten Muziek Gezelschap Quadrivium" is the student music association for classical music in Eindhoven. Quadrivium has a choir, two orchestras and the only student recorder ensemble in the Netherlands.

Wind orchestra Auletes

Auletes is the largest orchestra of Quadrivium. It started out as a wind ensemble, but has grown these last few years to an orchestra of almost 60 members, playing wind instruments and percussion. Jos Schroevers is the conductor of this orchestra.

Every year there is a large project. These projects were among others: the Queen Symphony, Carmina Burana, Guns or Roses and Lord of the Rings and Dance. In 2008 the orchestra gave a concert named "Windows of the world" where music from around the world was played.

Symphony orchestra Ensuite

Ensuite is the youngest orchestra of Quadrivium. Ensuite also grew a great deal since it was founded. Its current 25 members is almost double the number of members Ensuite started out with. You can join Ensuite when you play a string, wind or percussion instrument. Ghislain Bellefroid is the conductor of this orchestra.

Ensuite has played works from among others Bach, Dvořák, Debussy, Grieg, Mozart, Mussorgsky and Ravel. But also less traditional music is being performed. In 2006, for example, Ensuite gave a jazz concert. In 2009 Ensuite gave the 'Peer Gynt, een man op zoek' concert in which they filled the evening with program music. In 2010 Ensuite will have a large project where dance music will be played.

Recorder ensemble Sambuca

Sambuca is the only student recorder ensemble in the Netherlands and we are, of course, really proud of that. Guided by Maartje van den Boom - Coppes Sambuca plays a broad variety of music. Because the ensemble is rather small, Sambuca mostly joins concerts of the orchestras or choir. They also perform for special occasions, like an opening at the TU/e or in a mass of Saint's Church.

Choir Vokollage

Vokollage is the choir of ESMG Quadrivium. At the moment 20 singers are rehearsing under the supervision of conductor Ruud Huijbregts. Vokollage sings mostly choral pieces written for small choirs. For some occasions the choir will seek some support from other choirs to be able to perform large choral pieces as well.

In 2007 Vokollage performed the Queen Symphony with Quadriviums Auletes and the choirs De Volharding and La Bonne Esperance. In 2008 Vokollage gave a concert with Ensuite.

Our rehearsals are:

Choir Vokollage: every Tuesday at 7:30 PM
Symphony Orchestra Ensuite: every Wednesday at 7:30 PM
Wind Orchestra Auletes: every Thursday at 7:30 PM
Recorder group Sambuca: every two weeks on Thursday at 7:15 PM

Piano members

Except for the choir and orchestras Quadrivium also has members who do not join the rehearsals, but practice their instrument or voice in one of the rehearsal rooms. These members are simply called piano members.

Quadrivium has four rooms with pianos that can be used 24 hours a day, as long as this doesn't interfere with the fixed rehearsals. If you want to make use of our rooms, please send an email to our secretary.

Location

Quadrivium is situated in the Bunker, the Cultural Students Centre of Eindhoven. Members of Quadrivium can get access to a key for rehearsing in the building. There is also a place to store your instrument safely.

Route

• From the train station (NS) of Eindhoven, go down the stairs from the platform, turn right and walk out of the station.
• When you exit the station keep walking straight (passing the taxi's) until you've passed the building, then turn right.
• Keep walking until you see traffic lights on your left and cross the street.
• Keep walking straight until you see the Bunker on your left hand side.
• When you've reached the Bunker, turn left and then immediately right to enter the parking lot.
• In the middle of the building, you'll see an entrance on your right hand side. Here you can enter the Bunker if you have an access pass.
  If you don't have a pass it is best to send an email in advance so that we can open the door for you. You can also call 040-2478506, but depeningind on day and time we might not be in the building to open the door for you.
